Lawrence Planning Commission OKs M-4 zoning for salvage yards
The Lawrence Douglas County Planning Commission unanimously approves an M-4 heavy industrial zoning change to allow salvage yard use, with a 10 foot stack height limit and use review. A separate site plan amendment tied 3-3 on requiring broad area plans, sparking debate on grandfather clauses and land parceling. A 9.5 acre rezoning near K-10 for Avco Supply Co follows, and a public hearing on Nieder Acres annexation is set for November 14.

The firemen have 10 days to request a transcript, after which a hearing date will be set, with decisions typically coming no sooner than six months.
