Pollee Court Hearing Filed Against George Bew for Slaughter
Julius Fisher files a complaint with Pollee Court against George Bew for slaughtering animals in the city in violation of ordinance. The case is set before Judge Steele next Tuesday. George Gorman was fined $1150 for disturbance of the peace. Judge Steele presided over a case about a prowling man near a house. The woman involved was not as presumed and an arrest followed. The unnamed man, once bright and promising, now a habitual drinker, drifts toward ruin. Foster Miller and Vernon announce a club dance series at Miller's Hall every Friday night.
Oread Commencement Program Ends Amid Praise and Lengthy Lines
The Oread Literary Society held its June commencement week program with music by Miles Morris Smith Scott and others, an invocation by Prof. Snow, and debates on presidential election by direct vote. The event drew praise for its content though the length wore on the audience. Death notices follow for Mrs. Elizabeth Duncan, a longtime Lawrence resident born in 1837, who passed away after a life of faith service and family dedication. funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow.

Enfarnal Poison Plot Unfolds in Solomon City Area
A man named J Ponkhows, living five miles south of Solomon City, brought meat to his son in law Juha Lisle hoping to reconcile families. The meat carried a poisonous design but Mrs Lisle exposed the plan as the meat sickened a child and killed a nearby cat and dog instead. The villain avoided deadly punishment by misfortune.
