Senate Majority Leader Derek Schmidt and House Leader Dennis McKinney told the Special Committee on Assessment and Taxation that disaster areas need help paying for replacement housing and for businesses to relocate. They warned rebuilding requires sustained economic support to keep residents, with Greensburg and other towns facing tax-base losses. Proposals will be drafted next month and considered when the legislature reconvenes in January.
