Parade envisioned to kick off sesquicentennial celebration
Lawrence plans to begin 150th birthday events with a July 4 2003 kickoff parade, leading to a September 18 2004 parade. The neighborhood parade would feature many groups and children, tracing Lawrence history from American Indian times to the present. Officials caution loud interest could require limiting participants. A presidential debate remains funded separately with goals of raising at least 500000 dollars.
