The Lawrence Recreation Commission with Kansas University Physical Education fraternity will host a football proficiency contest for boys ages 7 through 17 at 9 a.m. Saturday in South Park. Events include passing punting and place kicking with distance scoring and trophies for each age group. The May term District Court jury is to report at 9 a.m. Thursday, and Bert Coan will miss this season due to injury with a 1962 return hoped.

Five Adult Classes Filled in Lawrence Fall Program
Lawrence adult education director Ed Logsdon said five classes are already filled in the fall program at Lawrence High School. Sewing II on Monday Knitting on Tuesday Upholstering on Monday Driver Education on Tuesday and Thursday and Rapid Reading on Tuesday are full. Enrollment continues in the latter three with about 347 registered so far and registration extending through Friday. The adult education office will be open 7 to 9 tonight and Thursday and during the day through Friday.
