Kansas hosts Late Night visit and recruits in flux
Elijah Johnson a 6-2 senior guard from Cheyenne High Las Vegas will attend Kansas University Late Night in the Phog on an official visit. Johnson cites KU coach Bill Self in a high profile recruiting push while also considering Oklahoma Texas UCLA and others. Daniel Orton a 6-10 forward from McGuinness High Oklahoma City names KU and Kentucky as co leaders and plans a Kentucky visit October 10. He also weighs Oklahoma Oklahoma State and Ohio State. Brewster Academy coach Jason Smith says KU leads for Thomas Robinson a 6-8 power forward also on Memphis and USC radar. Dominic Cheek a 6-5 from St Anthony will attend Oct 17 Late Night in the Phog and is eyeing KU Villanova Wake Forest Tennessee plus UConn Memphis Indiana Pitt Rutgers Seton Hall.

The Lawrence High boys soccer team fell 2-0 to No 2 Shawnee Mission Northwest in Overland Park, dropping to 2-5 on the season and 0-3 in the Sunflower League. Northwest opened the scoring in the 16th minute, then held off a late surge. Lions coach Matt Anderson praised goalies Sean Simmons and Sam Wessels and said the team aims to be a strong regional threat by season end. The next game is Thursday at Shawnee Mission West at 7 p.m.
