Wichita State gets federal grant to start nonprofits
Wichita State University will use a 1.2 million dollar federal grant to help start faith and community based nonprofit groups in Kansas. The three year grant is part of 43 million from the Compassion Capital Fund awarded to 14 groups nationwide. New groups may apply for help starting in January, director Greg Meissen said. Jaime Lopez of Wichita ACTS said the network helped his group form goals and even develop their name.

School bus hit by tractor-trailer near Hutchinson
A Haven School District bus was struck by a tractor-trailer Thursday afternoon seven miles south of Hutchinson on Kansas Highway 96. The bus driver and all five students were injured. four were taken to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita and two to Hutchinson Hospital. The truck driver and passenger had minor injuries. Names, ages, and injury details were not released.
