EU study warns Antarctic melt may raise seas long term
EU researchers report 0.24 millimeters yearly rise from ice loss across Antarctica with Amundsen Sea glaciers alone capable of four feet of sea level increase if they collapse. Other studies show thinning elsewhere on the Antarctic Peninsula as radar and satellite data track faster glacier thinning and retreat. The team cautions the long term impact and notes the cause could be warming or multi century climate shifts, urging emissions reductions.
