Beebe and the Big 12’s uncertain exit and legacy
The piece critiques Dan Beebe’s tenure as Big 12 commissioner from 2007 to 2010. It argues he stayed too long amid realignment turmoil, resisted leaving at key moments, and left the conference in a weakened state as Colorado, Nebraska, and Texas A&M departed. It suggests his departure, while painful, may allow the league to regroup and regain credibility in football and basketball.
