City Leaders Back Changes to Strengthen Rental Inspections
Lawrence City Commission discussed first draft amendments to the rental inspection ordinance. Proposals would raise unit inspections and curb lenient schedules for landlords with violations. Code Enforcement Manager Brian Jimenez noted 92 percent of landlords now qualify for less-frequent inspections, a program he says fails its incentive purpose.

Allen Press site to anchor Warehouse Arts District redevelop
Lawrence developer Tony Krsnich has signed a deal to redevelop the former Allen Press printing plant at 11th and Massachusetts streets and a vacant New Hampshire Street lot.
