Study on Teacher Bonuses Fails to Raise Test Scores
Vanderbilt researchers in Nashville measured fifth to eighth grade math results from 2007 to 2009. About 300 teachers split into bonus eligible and non eligible groups showed no extra gain in standardized tests for students whose teachers earned up to 15000 dollars annually for improvements. The study concludes pay alone cannot fix education and calls for broader reforms to improve teacher performance and school culture.
