KU Gains First Student From Behind Curtain
Kansas University will welcome Zibigniew Wilk of Crakow Poland as the first student from behind the Iron Curtain this semester under a University scholarship to pursue a doctorate in geology. Wilk, arriving in Lawrence this month, comes with government consent and joins 38 foreign students on special scholarships at KU.

The Planning Commission recommended approval of a rezoning in the 1900 block on Massachusetts from single family to duplex. Kansas Citianson 70 of Minneapolis Minnesota was killed while visiting Tulsa and Lawrence. The body shipped from Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonga noxie to a funeral home in East St. Louis. In the Morris High School steps shooting, 18 year old John Guzman died after a confrontation with seven youths charged with homicide. Shotgun incident leaves KU student with minor injuries
Kansas University police chief said no new information is available about the shotgun shooting of Bruce David Beard a St Louis sophomore. He was hit by four pellets in the back and one in the arm near the Alpha Tau Omega house on Tenn Street. Beard reported the attack after going to Watkins Hospital and notifying Lawrence police.
