Meteor Showers Seen From Airliner Over Rockies
An airliner crew reported witnessing a meteor display that sparked widespread ground reports of strange craft flashing across Wyoming and Colorado. Pilots described two bright objects moving southeast near the Rockies at 3,000 feet and 600 to 1,000 mph. Reports traced paths from Laramie to Fort Collins and Greeley, then into Colorado and Trinidad, with numerous towns listed in a scattered archive of sightings.

Credit curbs spark buyers to beat rules says Reuters
Washington reports show department stores saw a 25 percent sales jump during the warning period before installment limits took effect. Officials say the move suggests consumers rushed to buy television sets furniture and appliances to beat curbs while noting the inflation fight may still need only a modest tightening. Analysts caution that some cities report little impact and full retail data will take weeks to clarify the effect on the economy.
