Purple Heart Award Given to R. R. Rutherford
Lawrence resident R. R. Rutherford has received the Purple Heart for a head wound from shrapnel in France while serving with Company H, 137th Infantry. The medal honors military merit and bears Washington’s likeness. Demonstrations at 4-H Club Council meeting feature seed corn testing by Max Laptad.
