Hugh O Connor a 46 year old Montreal native and producer for Francis Thompson Inc on a project about all walks of life in the United States was shot and killed by a man identified as Hobart Ison 69 of Jeremiah Kentucky. Ison faces murder charges and a hearing is set. The shooting occurred as a four person production crew filmed poverty scenes at a coal camp near Whitesburg Kentucky.

The Kansas University Traffic and Security Office reports the theft of a billfold owned by Jerry E. Hutchinson of 2315 Princeton Blvd. Stolen last June, the billfold contained a KU student ID used by thieves to cash checks for $150 worth of merchandise. The ID lists 1739 West 26th Street.

House Post Office Committee Backs Broad Postal Rate Hike
The House Post Office Committee approved a bill to raise postal rates across the board and grant pay raises to over two million federal workers.
