Regents seek restoration of higher education funding
Kansas Board of Regents members said they will push to restore funding cuts to public universities but will not tie a tuition flatness to state funding. Regent Chair Fred Logan stated the tuition proposal won’t be part of the budget request to Gov. Brownback and the Legislature for the next session. The board planned a final budget vote today after discussions last month about keeping tuition flat if $34.3 million in cuts were restored over two years.

KU hosts chancellor's Japanese counterpart
A Kanagawa University delegation led by Masaru Ishizumi visited Lawrence and the KU campus this week. Ishizumi met KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little, lectured a class, attended a City Commission meeting, and dined at Pachamamas while discussing higher education in the United States and Japan. The visit underscores the sister-city tie between Lawrence and Hiratsuka since 1990 and KU’s role as the “KU of the West.”
