Three Thefts Reported But Truck Recovered
Lawrence police reported three thefts and a recovered stolen truck. Mrs. Risk of Risks Laundry on Vt Street said cash was stolen over the weekend. DETROIT AP Ford executives studied GM price increases and plan to announce their 1968 model prices midweek. GM raised 1968 prices by about 3.6 percent on average, with a $110 rise led by new standard exhaust emissions devices and center seat belts. Chrysler’s earlier 1968 hike was about 4.6 percent. At 8 50 a m near 6th and Ind Sts a car driven by Mary E Arensberg 32 of 3038 W 8th St and a station wagon driven by Michael Klimenko 43 of 615 Ind St collided with 75 damage to the car and 300 to the station wagon. At 7 23 a m Monday at 10th and NY Sts a car driven by Nancy A Frandle 24 of Perry and a car driven by Sandra L Wright 18 of 1036 NH St collided with 225 damage to the Frandle vehicle and 100 to the Wright car.

Girl Injured in Wreck Suffers a Broken Back
X rays show Melainie Amyx 19 of Lake Dabinawa has a broken back from a one car crash four miles west of Lawrence Saturday afternoon. She is in satisfactory condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and will be hospitalized about four months. The accident on U S 40 involved leaving the road to avoid a turning vehicle, a ditch jump, a culvert, a township road, and a fence. The engine caught fire but was extinguished by the driver Larry A Haider 20 of 2212 Ohio.

Vladimir Tkachenko a 25 year old Soviet scientist was bundled onto a Moscow bound plane after his wife accused British officials of inhuman tactics at blocking his departure. Britain said they acted to prevent possible drugging and forceful return to Russia.
