City uses effluent water for irrigation program
Lawrence Parks and Recreation will switch to treated wastewater for irrigation after four to five daily fill ups by four trucks currently hauling potable water. The plan approved by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Lawrence city utilities officials will supplement drought measures and reuse effluent from the east Lawrence treatment facility. Wichita also pumps effluent.
