Lions defense lifts Lawrence High over Shawnee Mission East 12-10
Lawrence High's defense carried the Lions to a 12-10 win over Shawnee Mission East at Haskell Stadium. Linebacker John Nelson and defensive backs Jo Jo Polk and Nate Coffman keyed stops as East managed only 63 rushing and 67 passing yards, with Nelson sacking Pearce twice and the secondary making key plays. The unit forced two interceptions, recovered a third-quarter fumble, and held East out of a first down until late in the third. The win sets up road tests at Olathe South and SM West in upcoming weeks.
