Corps finds Steele House cannot be fully preserved
The U S Army Corps of Engineers says preserving the entire 112 year old Steele House is impossible and will dismantle it. Portions will be kept in a new Clinton Lake building with historic exhibits for Clinton Bloomington communities while other parts are displayed. Planning will seek approval from state historic preservation and the national Advisory Council. The Clinton Lake Historical Society will be involved but has no veto power.
