A two day symposium on German American literature and culture runs October 8 9 at Spencer Research Library Kansas University. It opens at 8 30 a m October 8 with a paper on the Allison Shelley Collection of Americana Germanica. Twenty one additional papers follow with all sessions in the third floor auditorium. Noon luncheon October 8 in the Watkins Room Kansas Union and a 6 30 p m banquet in the Union Centennial Room.

Senate ethics committee voted 5 to 1 to end its inquiry into alleged Gulf Corp campaign contributions to Senator Hugh Scott and others. Edward Brooke opposed the motion to end the probe.
