Pvt Don E Cramer aged 19, grandson of Mrs Anta Cramer of 1212 Connecticut street, was killed in action in Korea on September 1. His parents are Mr and Mrs Ed Cramer of Harlan. Will Widen Bridges On U S 24 In Jefferson County
State Highway Commission announced in Topeka plans to widen the last two narrow bridges on U S 24 between Lawrence and Topeka this fall. Both bridges lie in Jefferson county. one over Buck Creek near Williamstown and the other over an unnamed creek east of Williamstown. Bridges will expand from 18 to 28 feet as pavement widens from 18 to 22 feet. Bids open in Kansas City on September 28.
