London dispatch from September 14 reports on possible immediate results of renewed Balkan resistance and Turkish advances. The brief item notes Britain may rally as tensions escalate in the region, with focus on military movements and diplomatic implications.
London dispatch reports the Bridge fleet instructed to stop Turkish troops from crossing from Asia to Europe. The cabinet reached a full agreement with France on neutral zones around the Dardanelles and Constantinople. The British government suggests a general powers conference on the Turkish question, possibly inviting the United States.
A Reuters dispatch says Turkish forces entered the British consulate at Smyrna and killed an archives official. Postmaster Wilkinson and several Englishmen are reported murdered. Consul General Harry Lamb is believed to have escaped aboard a warship.
At Eve Missouri six miles east of Fort Scott a car attempting to cross the M K and T railroad tracks killed Perry Tompson Frank C Ferin both of Kansas City and two unidentified men. Papers found on the dead tied them to Sam Levi of Fort Scott in coal mine ventures east of the city. The identified victims were John Feren of Chelsea Street Kansas City and Harry Thompson of Thompson Brothers Construction Kansas City.
Washington reports President Harding resumed work at the White House today after a week’s absence due to Mrs Harding’s improving condition. Brigadier General Sawyer said her health continues to improve. Chamber officials Von Bruner and Claude Scott depart for Kansas City to inspect local chambers and seek ideas for furnishing the YMCA building quarters. Work continues in moving equipment to the new Chamber of Commerce quarters as cleaning and preparations proceed.
Sept. reports from Associated Press say Smyrna is completely wrecked by a fierce fire raging for two days. Information from authoritative sources indicates hundreds of lives likely lost and the city left in ruins.
Kansas candidate for attorney general C B Griffith told the Old Settlers association that the state bears a heavy burden to preserve progress and warned that a growing disregard for law could lead to anarchy. He condemned the T W W and Ku Klux Klan and urged orderly resolution of strikes and strong support for law enforcement.
Churches in Lawrence plan tonight gatherings for University of Kansas students with picnics mixers and social events at parish houses and basements. Rev S Kye of the Methodist church says all creeds are welcome and efforts aim to boost Sunday attendance among students.

A special Douglas county committee under T C Stevenson is canvassing business districts to sell season tickets at 75 cents. Rep Keller of Minnesota announces impeachment charges against Attorney General Daugherty in relation to an injunction sought in railroad employee strike cases. The judiciary committee will meet tomorrow with Keller presenting the case.
Dick and Will Dick were arrested on county warrants for violations of the prohibitory law. Inquiries at the courthouse led to charges alleging liquor sales at the Nick Brothers store and related nuisance, with searches finding bottles and simulants. The men face misdemeanor counts with a November district court trial. both deny the charges.
The Tin Lizzies plan a reunion on September 27 dubbed Ford Day. Merchants will award prizes for oldest car and couples driving Fords, with committees forming to finalize the program. Owners of "Hepias" may also enter contests as entries open to eligible cars on Lawrence’s monthly sales day.

The Journal World calls on Harry Dick to resign as a state legislature candidate after charges against him. Douglas County citizens demand a clean candidate, and the county committee will meet tomorrow to consider his resignation and the selection of a successor to appear on the ticket.
The Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra concludes its winter tour and spring in Lawrence with two concerts led by conductor Mitnnespolis. Soprano An ve Roselle headlines the evening soloist. afternoon soloist to be chosen from the orchestra. Season tickets priced 6, 4, and 5 dollars.
Dr. Lindley spoke to about 75 000 people at the Topeka state fair yesterday afternoon as Kansas University day highlighted by the chancellor speech. He praised youths calling them precious crepeits and noted a high school graduate’s life prospects rising eightyfold and college graduates multiplying 500 times. University exhibits drew wide interest with many departments showing displays.
The high school will hold class elections on September 25 to elect officers for the year. Candidates must submit petitions to the proper authorities by next Thursday. Miss Irene Getter presides over the student council which oversees the election.
Sam Sweezer remained in about the same condition today at the hospital after a severe auto accident on the fort to fort road yesterday. Doctors described his injuries as serious and said he was under careful medical care.
At Robinson gymnasium the new university convocation opened with Chancellor EH Lindley urging students to start strong and manage finances wisely. He warned against borrowing and contracting debts, stressed the university’s obligation to the people, and noted only about 12 percent of the population is of superior intelligence.
At Lawrence High School, total senior high enrollment 748 includes 405 girls and 303 boys. Girls lead in junior and senior classes, with 95 girls to 74 boys in seniors and 119 to 72 in juniors, while freshmen and sophomores show closer counts.
Fupeno McCain of Pawhuska Oklahoma, a former KU man, visits his son Frank Gilmore McCain a junior at KU. McCain is on crutches after breaking four bones in his foot. Also notes buying a Superior Chevrolet and banking the daily difference.
