Average yield still expected for Douglas County crops
Douglas County farmers anticipate strong harvests with corn and soybeans as county records show 38 433 acres of soybeans and 26 160 acres of corn. Weather has caused yield variation from 40 to 200 bushels per acre in same fields, but long term averages point to about 1273 bushels per acre for corn and strong revenue projections. Persistent rains and heat affected early plantings and tasseling, with harvesting of soybeans expected in coming weeks.
