Detective Don Dalquest traced stolen money from a 14 year old yard worker to eight juveniles who shared the cash hidden in a car. The teens bought cars, guns, a Colorado trip, and other luxuries while parents noticed sudden wealth. Restitution and civil suits loom as authorities seek how to restore funds.
Regents will choose a new executive officer at Friday's Topeka meeting to replace Max Bickford who leaves in November. Six finalists were interviewed including John Conard, and at least two others are former Kansans. The appointee will work with Gov. Bennett and legislators to secure higher education funding and coordinate with the regents, institutions, and alumni. The agenda also includes leaves, architectural drawings for Robinson gymnasium, and contracts for a trash linen system and Sadler Tower link at KU Medical Center.
