A two year old girl named Marleen Lile from DeSoto was slightly injured when struck by a car about a mile east of DeSoto on Highway 10. McClain Dies After Long Post Office Career
Wilfred K. McClain 65 died in a Topeka hospital after a long tenure at the local post office. Born in Topeka in 1886 he moved to Lawrence as a child and spent his life there. He married Evelyn Conger in 1912 and left a widow, two children including Wilfred McClain Jr., and three grandchildren. Funeral at First Methodist Church with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
