Community theater seeks S100K from county
Douglas County commissioners will weigh two funding requests on Wednesday. Theatre Lawrence seeks 100000 dollars upfront and 20000 each year for five years to build a new 300 seat theater and education center in Bauers Farms, moving from a former church. The county also may contribute 100000 dollars to a Kansas Department of Transportation and city of Lawrence plan for a South Lawrence Trafficway interchange at Bob Billings Parkway. Janis Bunker says county support is to secure a 1 million dollar out-of-state grant if the campaign reaches its 6.2 million goal by September. The county meets at the Douglas County Courthouse at 4 p.m.
