Five Rescued From Storm Battered North Atlantic Boat
A 42 foot ketch Voile d Or with five aboard was saved by the Coast Guard in 30 foot seas near the North Atlantic. The two women and three men were evacuated by a small boat from the cutter McCulloch after waves prevented towing or lifeboat retrieval. Passengers include William Schnirling 68 and Alice 57, their son-in-law Lee Van Perk 24 and Suzie 21, and skipper Ivan C Fox of Bermuda. The vessel left New York bound for Bermuda and sent a distress call Monday afternoon.
