The Kansas crop and livestock reporting service projects 71.3 million bushels of corn for 1967 with an average yield of 70 bushels per acre. Detectives arrested 28 year old Alice Crimmins in Whitestone Queens on a first degree murder indictment for the July 1965 disappearances and deaths of her four year old daughter Alice and five year old son Edmund. Authorities say the children vanished from the Flushing apartment and were found dead within days. Crimmins was taken into custody in a parking lot outside her home.

Liberal Stores Burned by Wind-Whipped Fire
A wind driven blaze destroyed a warehouse, a butcher shop, and a restaurant south of Liberal Kansas downtown. The 11:30 p.m. fire damaged Ragsdale Meat Discount Store, the Steakhouse cafe, and the Surplus Outlet warehouse. Losses were estimated between 50 000 and 75 000 dollars with two other buildings sustaining smoke and water damage. The cause was not determined.

Unknown Driver Tries Again to Injure Youth
Ronald Brewer a 16 year old Central High School student was struck by a car August 20 in Chattanooga Tennessee in a hit and run. Two weeks later police report an anonymous call promising to do a better job next time. He was walking near the high school when a car sped by and nearly hit him. Police classify the latest incident as aggravated assault with an automobile. Brewer says he has no known enemies.
