Lawrence man John Hatfield, 24, of 2131 Mass St, paid a $100 fine plus costs in County Court for keeping and storing explosives within 50 feet of gas storage tanks and for possessing explosive fireworks not approved by the state fire marshal. Deputy Sheriff John Miller said the man made bombs from dynamite parts and that one exploded near Eudora Grade School, shaking nearby buildings. Hatfield operated an Eudora service station where the bombs were reportedly manufactured.
