Tours memorialize Pentagon attack with commemorative walks
Washington observers joined about 1 500 people Saturday for first walk-in tours at the Pentagon since the 2001 hijacking attack. The one day event marked the fourth anniversary of the terrorist strikes with tours for victims families and reservations. Visitors viewed a rebuilt wall with a scorched stone and the date September 11 2001, a room honoring victims, the Purple Heart and Defense of Freedom medals, a memorial chapel, and an outdoor contemplation park under construction with half the $18 million cost raised and groundbreak planned for fall 2006.
