KU study links resistance training to weight loss findings
KU associate professor Jeff Potteiger leads a four day a week nine month study with overweight men to compare resistance and endurance training. Early results show resistance training yielded average weight loss of five pounds and four percent body fat, while endurance training produced similar fat loss but without as much fat loss emphasis. The project, part of Potteiger’s multiple ongoing studies, uses metabolic carts and DEXA to measure body composition as a new KU facility expansion supports the research.
