Lawrence Man Found Dead In Car Near Kaw River
Lawrence man Robert H. Mumford age 54 was found dead in his car near the Kaw River Sunday afternoon by Douglas County sheriff's officers. The death was ruled death by own action by acting coroner Dr. Wayne Hird. The car was found with a hose between the exhaust and a window about a quarter mile west of Tee Pee Junction. Mumford worked 22 years for Lawrence Paper as a foreman. He is survived by his wife Mildred, two daughters Kathryn and Louise, four sons Dale John Donald Marvin, his mother Mrs. Louise Jenkins, a sister Thelma White, four brothers Roland William Gerald Samuel and two grandchildren. Graveside services set for 1 pm Tuesday at Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. W. S. Sims in charge. Friends may call Warren Mortuary until 10 am Tuesday.
