Local woman to lead Graves effort for governor race
Secretary of State Bill Graves named Judy Krueger of Lawrence as director of his campaign for the Republican nomination. Krueger, 46, leaves a post as regional advocate for the U S Small Business Administration covering Kansas Iowa Missouri and Nebraska. She was appointed in 1986 by President Reagan and previously worked for Kansas departments of Human Resources and Administration. Other Republican candidates include Fred Kerr Gene Bicknell and Rich Becker. Democrats include Joan Wagnon and Marvin Barkis with Jim Slattery considering a run. Gov Joan Finney said she will not seek a second term.
