Energy Secretary James R. Schlesinger says Congress may approve an Alaska to U S pipeline crossing Canada. The line would lower costs, deliver about 1 trillion cubic feet daily, and save roughly 6 billion over 20 years versus an intra U S route.
The Senate adopted a resolution by Sen. Bob Dole praising Alf Landon for his governorship candidacy and public service. The tribute lauds his fiscal integrity, leadership, humanitarian work, and ongoing influence as the GOP elder statesman and adviser to politicians and civic leaders.
