Paname reports greater quake damage than first feared with the cathedral and major buildings badly injured. City losses run to thousands, with several lives lost. Communications to Aspinwall are cut. many bridges on the line are ruined.
Judge Williamson issued arrest papers for Albion P. Martin described as a former Wisconsin penitentiary inmate. He allegedly obtained $1,800 diamonds from a jewelry firm to show a supposed customer and claimed they were lost while returning them.
A private telegram announces the assassination at San Antonio New Mexico on Wednesday night of Charles Harria formerly a school teacher in the area. He had recently moved with his father to Topeka Kansas and was traveling south for pleasure with one of Pinkerton's men.
Desperate Demons Chicago reports Officer Marion Shepard of Fayette County was shot dead near Wodena yesterday while arresting two Barbour brothers for horse stealing. Both men escaped as a crowd pursues them. Also notes fever cases at Fort Brown with two deaths and Mexican arrivals.
In the Eleventh Congressional district Dem ocrats nominated Ex-Congressman Storm on the sixty seventh ballot. The item cites other brief notices including stock market movement and President Arthur’s arrival.
The Greenback State convention in San Francisco nominated Lt. Gov. W. J. A Salt St. Marie special reports the tug W. W. Goodman towing steamers John Onieil Geo. D. Russell and Kate Winslow was struck by the steamship Northern. The Russell sank in minutes with two or three lives lost including a woman. Hassell carried 300 tons of iron ore.
Special from Guarymas reports the Filchner and Vanbastel powder house blew up on the 6th instant. It contained over ten thousand pounds of powder. One man lost both legs and died. Buildings suffered extensive damage including cracked walls and blown out roofs. City damage estimated at $100000.

Flames engulf Pellisier & Co. dry goods at 81 Joseph Street early Sept 7. The three story block bounded by St Joseph Church Defasses and Crown streets sees widespread damage as residents flee with belongings. Loss tallies near 1 million dollars amid frantic scenes and smoke.

It claims internal and external action, years of private use, and broad public confidence. The piece also promotes Celery and Chamomile Pills for headaches and nervous disorders, with pricing and mail order details.
A grand display fills the Exposition Building at Ninth and Delaware with textiles, art, florals, and 1000 items for visitors. The event promises Kansas City sights and a South Main street extension with 40 acres in view.
