The Lawrence City Commission will hold an executive session with the Douglas County Commission, then resume the open meeting at 6 35 p m in the City Commission meeting room.
County commissioners will explore a potential public private partnership at the 467 acre Farmland Industries fertilizer plant site in southeastern Lawrence. The plant has been idle since May 2001 when the Kansas City based cooperative halted production.
The agenda lists an executive session to discuss real estate acquisition and attorney consultation, with Douglas County Commission and the economic development director, plus recognitions for a student delegation from Eutin, Germany and National Literacy Week. Consent items include August 26 and September 2 minutes, multiple board minutes, all claims, a BrewHawk license, bid openings for road and wall projects, and construction awards to Penny Construction totaling 177021 dollars and 541747 dollars. Ordinances address zoning, traffic, animals at large, and permits applying Douglas County resolution within the city. A condemnation survey, dedication of easements, and a release of mortgage are also noted, with a public hearing on vacation of utility easement and Horizon 2020 amendments. Downtown Parking Board recommendations on parking rates and fines are to be reviewed.
