Weekend traffic heavy with single accident reported
Over the weekend highway travel was busy with holiday trips. One accident occurred at 12 12 p m Saturday five miles northwest of Lawrence on Highway 24. A 1940 Nash sedan driven by Jose phine Betz of Kansas City Missouri rolled over after leaving the pavement. Betz, her two nephews and mother were not seriously hurt but the vehicle was badly damaged.

Injured Motorcyclist Dragged After Hit and Run Near Douglas Cler
John Cole a 25 year old Kansas City resident was seriously bruised when a hit and run driver struck his motorcycle along highway 59 near the Douglas Franklin county line. He said he started to pass a car when another vehicle struck his wheel and dragged him about 50 yards before the driver stopped. Cole was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
