Ford invited to buy defunct Missouri and Arkansas railroad
Henry Ford may buy the defunct Missouri and Arkansas Railroad at public sale next month in Joplin. Joseph R. Pile of the Joplin chamber of commerce and delegates say Ford’s interests are negotiating in Detroit and Ford’s representative has shown interest. The 875 mile line runs from Joplin to Helena Arkansas through timbered lands with manganese deposits and serves several counties with little alternate rail.

The new entrance to the Lawrence Country Club grounds was completed and opened for members. Accessible from the Fort to Fort highway and from Seventh Street, the route allows cars to park near the water tower area after packing the road. Lawrence Schools Show Enrollment Boost Near Three Hundred
Lawrence authorities predict all district schools will exceed last year’s enrollment by about 300 pupils with kindergarten growth. Yesterday total school enrollment reached 2,522, up from 2,324 at month end last year and 2,292 in 1919. High school enrollment stood at 633 versus 690 a year ago, with freshman inclusion potentially raising the totals to 783.
