KCC amends Western rate case cutting increase, pushing changes to bills
The Kansas Corporation Commission reduced Western Resources proposed rise to a 22.7 million decrease after an original 151 million request. KPL customers face a 3.3 percent rate rise for capacity, while KGE customers see a 6.6 percent cut, with coal costs and revised wholesale profits shaping the new structure. Western appealed, leading to further recalculations that lowered the net decrease to 15.6 million and delaying full class-design of rates until filing by Oct. 19. Public comments show mixed feelings about the decision.
