Law enforcement chased a shirtless man near Wedgewood and a mobile home park after a reported sighting in east Lawrence. A caller claiming to be Chad Beers offered surrender near Clinton Lake at 6 p.m. but never appeared. Waiting list for Section 8 housing closed in Lawrence

Alexandra Taylor, a divorced mother of two, recently moved into a three bedroom home in North Lawrence, hoping for stability after a year on the waiting list. Lawrence Housing Authority shows 130 Edgewood Homes units, 120 senior units at Babcock Place, and 94 scattered sites. As of July, 167 families qualify for public housing and 312 for Section 8, which is closed with a two year wait. Rent for qualified families is 30 percent of gross income.
