Nixon on Communist menace and need for strength
In a speech to the American Legion National Convention in Los Angeles Nixon argues the communist challenge is too crucial to be met by mere diplomacy. He cites ten reversals in communist policy since 1918 and warns that kindly attitudes won't deter totalitarian aims without military and economic power backing the United States. He criticizes softer lines and urges steadfast resolve to prevent being duped by peace signals.
