Lawman with domestic conviction loses Kansas badge
Former Marion police officer Michael A. Stone, who had a 1995 domestic violence conviction, had his Kansas law enforcement certificate revoked by the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training. He served for two decades in law enforcement in Kansas, with prior work including Butler County Sheriff deputy and Florence police chief roles. The commission cited the Training Act prohibiting DV convictions from becoming an officer, regardless of expungement, and noted no ruling on weapon ownership. Stone previously faced California DV court records and a 2003 domestic incident surrounding his then-wife’s death.
