Santos Plans Talks With FARC Start in Norway Cuba
Santos announced plans to begin talks with Colombia's FARC to end a century-long conflict. Negotiations will begin in October in Norway and continue in Cuba. He will visit KU on Sept. 24 for a public 2:30 p.m. event at the Dole Institute, with free admission but limited seating.

KU Edwards Campus vice chancellor Bob Clark to depart
Bob Clark is leaving the Kansas University Edwards Campus after 15 years as vice chancellor. Appointed dean in 1997 and promoted in 2000, he led growth in 15 programs and campus facilities. He will become KU community liaison for STEM learning and professor of practice while the campus notes a $500 million regional economic impact and about 8,400 graduates.

Lawrence driver, pedestrian identified in Ninth and Ohio crash
Lawrence police identified the driver and pedestrian from a Sunday morning crash at Ninth and Ohio. Hannah R. Swank, 20, of Topeka, was struck by a westbound Ford Explorer driven by Jay Edward Berryman, 25, of Lawrence, as she crossed northbound. Swank was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital with serious injuries. a prognosis was not available. Alcohol was listed as a contributing factor. Berryman was not arrested. The incident followed another serious hit-and-run near KU on August 26. In that case Colby Liston, a KU student, lost both legs. A separate arrest: Jaden M. Mackey, 19, charged with four counts of attempted aggravated robbery after a porch robbery on Tennessee Street. Bond set at $15,000. COURTS
