BMA Tower Named National Historic Landmark in Kansas City
Kansas City’s 19 story BMA Tower, opened in 1963 and designed by Skidmore Owings Merrill, was designated a federal historic landmark. The listing could unlock tax credits for about 14.7 million dollars in renovations. the glass and marble International Style building has been on the market since last winter.

State Budget Shortfalls Persist in August Revenue
State revenue collections for July through August fell about 37 million short of March projections, totaling 302.8 million in August versus an expected 321.7 million. Individual income, retail sales, and compensating use taxes underperformed. an $11.5 million tobacco settlement payment was not counted as a shortfall.

Drought Hit Kansas Corn and Sorghum Harvest Start
Drought stressed Kansas farmers began cutting early spring corn as yields drop. Marion Co-op reports about 50 bushels per acre versus 100 last year while 54 percent of corn statewide is poor to very poor. Southeast Kansas shows 88 percent mature. southwest remains badly hit despite irrigation. Sorghum also shows 62 percent poor to very poor nationwide with 11 percent mature.
