Tropical Storm Lee wafts ashore near Louisiana coast
Tropical Storm Lee soaked Louisiana and Mississippi with heavy rain and gusty winds causing power outages for thousands and prompting evacuations in bayous including Jean Lafitte. The slow storm stalled offshore then drifted northward with warnings from the coast to Destin Florida. Oil and gas platforms and rigs were evacuated as production shut in across the Gulf, while utilities struggled to restore service.
