Bronze Jayhawk statue installed near Memorial Stadium
Kansas Athletics officials unveil a four by four foot bronze Jayhawk statue outside the Anderson Family Football Complex facing Memorial Stadium. Designed by D W Acker and bronze sculptor John Free at a cost of 48000 dollars, the piece aims to become a new fan tradition as players rub it for luck before home games, with attention to faithful replication of the Sandy Jayhawk logo.
