Kelley tells gun fanciers not to worry
Kansas City FBI Director Clarence M. Kelley told a Planning Executives Institute audience that sportsmen and collectors need not fear government confiscation. 4 H Banquet Honors Outstanding Family Award
The 47th annual Douglas County 4 H Achievement Banquet will spotlight the Outstanding 4 H Family Award at 6 30 p m Tuesday in the Kansas Union Ballroom. More than 700 4 H members leaders parents and bankers personnel expected. Cliff Wallace will run the meeting. Baldwin High School Stage Band will provide entertainment. About 90 4 H members will be recognized for achievements alongside 4 H Key Awards I Dare You awards and boy and girl achievement awards. The county 4 H program, led by Extension agent Julian G Toney, includes about 750 youngsters in community clubs and about 600 in project clubs and groups with around 300 adult leaders involved.

House adopts Postal Service bill with modest stamp rise
The House approved legislation delaying a rate hike to 20 percent this year and set new first class postage at 12 cents for the first ounce. The vote on bill 267 was 113 to 207 with a 1.5 billion subsidy proposal defeated 96 to 207. The December 28 rate change follows a 10 cent current stamp price and a 13 cent proposed ceiling.
