Twenty Sunset Hill sixth graders toured Lawrence Sand Asphalt and Ready Mix Co to see how sand dredging and mixing create asphalt and concrete. They learned about fuel needs for ovens, observed a batch plant control board, and compared ancient construction to modern methods.

Kansas dancer offers free master class at KU Robinson gym
John Landovsky a professional dancer formerly with the Ruth Page Ballet Company will teach a master's class in dance Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Robinson gymnasium dance studio at Kansas University. The class is free and open to the public. TOPEKA police rejected a $50 a month pay increase in a 113 64 vote.
