Will Humphrey a 60 year old farm hand from Richland route 1 suffered a compound fracture of the left leg after being struck by a car driven by Elmer J. James of Lawrence route 3 about 9 30 p m Saturday near the White school. He was taken to Memorial hospital and listed in good condition this afternoon. James said he swerved to avoid the oncoming vehicle and struck Humphrey as he walked along the road.

Graves Relapses Before Trial In Jackson County Case
Kansas City October 30 Graves Jackson county prosecuting attorney suffered an internal hemorrhage from a stomach ulcer and was rushed to a hospital. A blood transfusion might be necessary. He was to face a county grand jury indictment for neglect of duty but delays occurred. Graves, a target of Gov. Lloyd C Stark, also faces ouster charges in the state supreme court.
